The relationship and results between Pla-Mor Bowl general manager Mick Hackbarth and the kaploe group were so positive that Mick and his wife Jenny wound up buying the 12 lane center in Iowa Falls, Iowa. The center was previously owned by Adrian Erickson and Milt Horak and has been a kaploe client for five years. “Our income has consistently gone up every year,” remarks Mick. Pla-Mor understands the value of marketing planning and execution as the keys to success. “Marketing is our number one source of new customers and new revenue. Without a comprehensive plan, any new idea is just a pretty flyer.The advantage kaploe gives to proprietors is a targeted, methodic, consistent approach to creating new customers and new revenue,” Mick explains. Mick also credits kaploe executive Max Cook who “has been instrumental in growing our bottom line by helping us control variable costs by rigorous monitoring of cost of goods, and weekly tracking of revenue to expenses.” The Pla-Mor team also recognizes the bowling industry is dynamic and changes occur which create new challenges. “ Like most, changing with the times, increasing profits, controlling costs and increasing volume are our challenges. Without marketing, surviving in a small market would be much tougher,” Mick states. Mick Hackbarth is a 17 year veteran of the bowling business. “It's truly been my life's work. I have always looked at it as a career, never just a job,” he says.
According to Mick, the kaploe group has changed his life. “Max
Cook, Fred Kaplowitz and the kaploe associates have made it possible
for Jenny and I to be center owners. They gave us the tools to succeed
and grow at our own pace.” |
